Ferenc Jordán, D.Sc.

System Ecology Scientist

Ferenc Jordán is a biologist and leading expert in network and systems ecology, whose research focuses on understanding complex biological systems through interdisciplinary approaches. He earned his PhD from Eötvös Loránd University, where he developed a strong foundation in theoretical and quantitative ecology. Over the course of his career, he has held several prestigious research positions, including Branco Weiss Fellow at Collegium Budapest, Principal Investigator at Microsoft Research–COSBI in Trento, and Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. Jordán is currently a lead researcher at the Institute of Biological Research in Cluj-Napoca, an associate researcher at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn in Naples, and a visiting professor at the University of Parma. His work integrates biology with economics, sociology, political science, and other natural sciences, aiming to uncover general principles that govern complex systems. Through conceptual modeling and empirical analysis, his research contributes to a deeper understanding of ecological networks, resilience, and sustainability across biological and social domains.
